WHAT IS THE LOWERING OF THE WAIST LINE IN SKIRT SHAPE?

In today's post I bring a subject that always brings doubts, especially when the student or modeler learns traditional modeling before draping.

The question is the lowering of the skirt, why is it necessary to do this lowering?

Well, first I need to explain that the mold made in draping automatically acquires the anatomical shapes of the body, right?

So it is normal that we need to make this correction, also known as downgrading. Ah, know that it is also used in flat modeling and numerous model makers use this method. This lowering is done, so that the skirt does not "stuff" and that it also prevents the skirt from being "cramped".

Another common doubt is that this difference, which can vary between 1.5 to 2 cm, can cause a lack of fabric. This is a mistake, as it is a practically irrelevant difference in this case, but it will make your skirts fit better.

Is that you? Do you already make your skirt patterns with this lowering? If you haven't tried it yet, enjoy and test it, you will be surprised by the fit and wearability of the piece!
