MY EXPERIENCE STUDYING AT L'ECOLE DE LA CHAMBRE SYNDICALE DE LA COUTURE PARISIENNE - IFM

For those who fell in this post with a parachute or still want to know more details about this course, I will complement it with some information.

To begin with, I need to talk about "L'ecole" or The school, as it is known in the fashion world.

L'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne is the school of the Haute Couture Syndicate and was founded in 1927, and to work with Haute Couture in a French atelier, the professional must have studied at this school, in order to learn the " Secrets of Haute Couture".

This school has continuing education courses, which last an average of one year! This course I took was a short course and they offer 1x a year. It is part of the Summer School program. In the full program, we would study several pieces and the course would be 2 weeks.

The name of the course is Modélisme Avancé : the dress suit and it has a very heavy workload, their schedule is from 9:30 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. It was a week of immersion in the draping inside my own home, where I was able to dedicate more than 14 hours for 5 days.

If I had been in France, obviously I wouldn't have focused so much on studies, because after I left school, I couldn't immediately practice on the dummy.

The course was very cool and on the first day we did the virtual tour, we got to know the institution (including the library) and the presentation of the teacher, who worked in some workshops in Paris, including Sonia Rykiel's.

Then we moved on to the tape, I figured I wouldn't need to do this step, because my mannequin had all the measurements.

However, in the course material it was specified that the mannequin should be the Stockmen brand, which is the mannequin they use in haute couture ateliers and which has the standard measurements of the French/European body.

What's more, it was an incredible and unforgettable experience, even for being the first vacation course done remotely by "L'ecole"!
